During the late A kung fu thriller set during the Ming Dynasty and centered on a secret service agent (Donnie Yen) in the emperor's court who is betrayed and then hunted by his colleagues.

Ming Dynasty, the Chinese imperial court is plagued by corruption as eunuchs usurp state power and the reigning emperor is incompetent. The Jinyi Wei (literally: Brocade-clad Guards) is the government's secret police, trained in clandestine combat since childhood, they are in charge of conducting missions to ensure peace and stability within the empire.

They have the authority to prosecute anyone deemed as an enemy of the state and they devote their lives and lethal prowess to serving the emperor only. When the organisation was first founded, the Jinyi Wei took orders directly from the emperor, but now they are under the control of the eunuch faction. The chief eunuch Jia Jingzhong is plotting with an exiled noble, Prince Qing, to rebel against the emperor and seize power. Jia orders Qinglong, the Jinyi Wei chief, to kill the Imperial Councilor Zhao Shenyan and take Zhao's safebox, which supposedly contains a list of names of traitors.

However, Qinglong discovers later that he had been used, as the safebox contains the Imperial Seal, a symbol of the emperor's authority, and Jia wants to use it to legitimize Prince Qing's actions for convenience when the rebellion begins. Qinglong is betrayed by his fellow guards and becomes a fugitive when Jia denounces him as a traitor and issues an order for his arrest. Qinglong escapes and joins the Justice Escort Agency, where he strikes up a romantic relationship with Qiao Hua, the daughter of the agency's leader.

Qinglong is determined to fulfill his loyalty to the emperor and continues to search for evidence of Prince Qing's rebellion plot and undermining Qing's plans. He is joined by the Heaven Eagles Gang, a group of bandits led by the Judge of the Sands. Standing in Qinglong's way are Jia Jingzhong's lackeys and his former Jinyi Wei fellows, as well as Prince Qing's goddaughter Tuotuo, a highly-skilled female pugilist.

72 Tenants Of Prosperity

Past and present survival of the common man in the big city - ups and downs, laughters and tears...
In 1970s Hong Kong, rapacious landlords try to evict 72 tenants but sworn brothers Ha Kugn (Eric Tsang) and Shek Kin (Jacky Cheung) help the group of 72 defeat the landlord (Lam Ka Tung) and landlady (Charmaine Sheh) and coincidentally rescue Pinky (Anita Yuen) from a planned forced marriage. When both sworn brothers fall for Pinky and propose to her, she flips a coin "heads or tails" and Ha wins her hand in marriage.

The sworn brothers become sworn enemies and Shek's hatred fuels intense rivalry against Ha in business dealings ranging from the manufacture of plastic flowers to the selling of stinky bean curd. Even after 40 years they continue to clash and in 2010 they are in keen competition selling electronics appliances in Sai Yeung Choi Street, Mongkok, the busiest street in the city and still home to the 72 tenants.

In fiercely competitive Sai Yeung Choi Street high rents force businessmen to use every means to survive, with electronics shops employing pseudo models in sales promotion campaigns and comic shops offering foot=massage services by Lolita, etc. These ploys are minor compared with the tactics of the landlord (mainland actor) who threatens to close down the shops unless his demands for triple rental are met. Amidst this strife and struggle the street is hit by acidattacks and in high spirits the 72 tenants unite and pledge to safeguard their home.

Against a background of fear and turmoil, with the old love triangle between Ha and Pinky and Shek still festering, the next generation of the Ha and Shek families embarks on their own heroic love affairs: mJ-style dancer Ha Junior (Bosco Wong) is fascinated by Shek's daughter (Stephy Tang) who is a Japanese AV culture fan; Ha's daughter (Linda Chung), a kung fu maiden, is pursued by Shek's love-struck son (Wong Cho Lam), the smart shortie. Affairs of the heart yet to be resolved.

Air Doll

Award-winning filmmaker Kore-eda Hirokazu explores what it means to be human through the experiences of an unlikely heroine: an Air Doll. Appearing in her second Japanese film after Linda Linda Linda, acclaimed Korean actress Bae Du Na stars as an inflatable sex doll that comes to life in the aesthetically and emotionally beguiling fantasy drama based on Goda Yoshiie's manga. Breathing life and charm into her quirky character, Bae Du Na delivers a charming performance that is both whimsical and heartbreaking, and daringly bares all for the film's nude scenes. One day, while her owner is at work, she steps out of the apartment for the first time. Leaving the grasps of her owner, the wide-eyed doll ventures out into a poetic new world full of curious personalities and adventures, and falls headfirst in love with dour video store clerk Junichi (Arata).

It has been 16 years since the classic Lunar New Year film - All's Well End's Well was released in 1992 starred with Stephen Chow, Maggie Cheung and Leslie Cheung. Now here comes the 2009 version of the hilarious family comedy. With the brand new story, the film was joined by the film's executive producer Clifton Ko, director Vincent Kok and cast members Sandra Ng, Raymond Wong, Louis Koo, Ronald Cheng and more stars. Yu Bo seeks help from the famous Cassanova, Dick (Louis Koo), to pretend to court his eldest sister and lure her into the mood of love. It is said that goldfish's memory only last for 3 seconds. Just when it swims from one side to another side in it's bowl, it begins to forget what just happened.

Because human isn't the same creature as goldfish, we apparently don't forget things that fast, especially, the one we love. Just like Keng, (Arak Amornsupasiri), who comes across his first love, Fai, (Yarinda Bunnag), when she takes her dog to his clinic. Keng knows that Fai married his best friend years ago, but now she divorced. This time, Keng hesitates to start over his relationship with Fai, pretending that he hasn't known her. It seems to work when Fai indeed couldn't remember Keng.

But sometimes when we want to remember something, we forget. Just like aunt Sompit and uncle Jamrat, who met at computer club for elderly. Chocolate

Chocolate is a 2008 Thai martial arts film directed by Prachya Pinkaew with martial arts choreography by Panna Rittikrai, the same pair who directed Tony Jaa in Ong-Bak and Tom Yum Goong. The star of Chocolate is Yanin "Jeeja" Vismistananda, who makes her debut film performance. Hiroshi Abe and Pongpat Wachirabunjong also star.

A young autistic woman named Zen (Yanin Vismistananda) has developed uncanny martial arts skills by watching television, and from living next door to a Muay Thai academy.

The girl is the daughter of Zin (Ammara Siripong), the Thai wife of Yakuza boss Masashi (Hiroshi Abe).

Zin was previously the girlfriend of Thai gangster No. 8 (Pongpat Wachirabunjong), who was jealous of her relationship with rival gangster Masashi, so he cut off one of Zin's toes, and forbade her from seeing Masashi.

Zin then falls ill with cancer, and does not have the money to pay for treatments. One day, Zen's friend discovers a list of debtors in an old notebook, from the days when Zin was a high-interest moneylender under No. 8. In order to get money to pay for her mother's cancer treatment, Zen decides to collect on the debts, which leads to confrontations with various criminal gangs and, eventually, No. 8.

The star of Chocolate, Yanin Vismistananda, was discovered by director Prachya Pinkaew in 2003 when the director was working on casting sessions for Panna Rittikrai's directorial effort, Born to Fight.

Already experienced in taekwondo, Yanin underwent more training with Panna Rittikrai's stunt team. The script for Chocolate was then developed with Yanin in mind.

The film was in production during 2006 and 2007, with promotional efforts including a cast appearance at the Bangkok Film Market during the 2007 Bangkok International Film Festival in July.

City Of Darkness

Yen plays a seasoned cop reluctant to return to the fray, but as a big brother figure, he comes to the assist of his friend Pen, a troubled cop still on the force. Much of the plot involves a power-hungry, vicious, and greedy villain named Duan Mu who wants possession of a legendary treasure and will do anything to get it; Duan Mu has a crooked cop, Pen’s superior, in his pocket to assist. Two misfits and a brother and sister discover they not only share the pieces of a jade necklace, but a father, and their necklace is the key to the treasure.

Confucius

China is not yet unified in the Spring and Autumn Period. The country-to-be is a patchwork of feudal kingdoms and states, constantly vying with each other for supremacy and terriorial advantage. The kingdom of Lu is typical. The ruler of Lu invites Kong Qiu into the court as a trusted adviser, and appoints him the court’s Minister of Rituals. In court, Kong Qiu demonstrates the effecacy of his ethics and his own tactical brillance by regaining Lu’s control over three cities lost in battle to the Qi kingdom three decades earlier. But Kong Qiu is outmaneuvereed by the ruler of Qi, who bribes the ruler of Lu to demote his minster and send him into exile. Kong Qiu sorrowfully leaves his family and begins a new life as a wandering teacher.

Kong Qiu and his disciples suffer great hardships as they wander in search of a new home. Ji-Sun Fei finds Kong Qiu and brings a gift from his dying father, a jade ring, symbolizing his unbrokjen link with his homeland Lu. Kong Qiu agrees to return to Lu, but only as a teacher, he will not involve himself in politics. He is true to his word, and he sees out his days working on his scrolls, editing poems and chronicling history.

The great sage and philosopher Confucius lived in the 6th century B.C., at a time when China was still a patchwork of feudal states vying with each other for supremacy. The Zhou Dynasty was tottering, incapable of unifying the various kingdoms, and there were incessant local wars over land and power. Confucius was born in the kingdom of Lu and rose to serve in its government. His skillfully engineered a peace with aggressive neighboring states and brought three dominant local clans under control. But his brilliance as a thinker and tactician was not enough to save him from being exiled by his political enemies, and he spent many years wandering and teaching a band of loyal disciples. His followers transcribed his lectures, collected as The Analects of Confucius, a volume which has been in print for well over 200 years.

The man we know as Confucius (a Latinized version of Kong Fuzi – “Venerable Master Kong”) was born Kong Qiu in 551 B.C., the son of a declining aristocrat in the kingdom of Lu. His early life was frugal. The world around him was collapsing, and he had radical, innovative ideas for reforming and stabilizing it. Enjoying the confidence of the ruler of Lu, he is promoted from Mayor of Zhongdu to Minister of Rituals in the court and begins to apply his principle of civility in everything from diplomatic relations with warlike neighboring kingdoms to domestic relations within the family. After a series of diplomatic triumphs he is promoted again to become Interior Minister. His ambitious plan to curb the power of Lu’s three dominant clans succeeds at first, and he is equally triumphant in outwitting the renegade general who leads an army against the Lu court. But the head of Qi clan seduces the ruler of Lu with gold, horses and women and persuades him to send Confucius into exile. Stripped of his official title, the sage sorrowfully leaves his wife and children behind and embarks on a new life as a wanderer. He is surprised and moved when members of his loyal retinue opt to join him in his travels.

Their life as wanderers is not easy. Confucius withstands both temptations and hardships, and is more than once forced to flee when another local war breaks out. Eventually, many years later, he is invited back to Lu, once again threatened by a political coup. But he agrees to return only as a teacher, refusing to involve himself in politics, and spends his declining years studying and collating the classics. History records that he died a disappointed man, but his work outlived the “Spring and Autumn Period” in which he lived and echoed through the dynasties to become the very bedrock of Chinese civilization. This film tells the story of the turbulent life and stirring times of the greatest sage and teacher ever known.

Country Princess

Acclaimed Korean actress Bae Doo-Na (The Host, Someday) delights audiences with the heartwarming TV drama Country Princess. Delicious Proposal

Any Korean drama fan looking at the cast of A Delicious Proposal will certainly be intrigued. This is in fact the debut drama of Son Ye Jin, who would later go on to star in film April Snow and drama Alone in Love. You also get to see the early days of some young actors who would later become mainstays of the industry, including So Ji Sub (Sorry, I Love You), Ji Sung (All In), and particularly Kwon Sang Woo who plays a delivery guy in this drama. A Delicious Proposal was directed by Park Sung Soo of the masterpiece Ruler of Your Own World, and written by Kim In Young of The Secret Lovers.

Hyo-dong (Jung Joon), the son of a struggling Chinese restaurant owner, falls in love with Hee-ae (Son Yeh Jin), who unbeknownst to Hyo-dong is the daughter of a ruthless rival who is out to destroy his father's restaurant. Hyo-dong and Hee-ae are in the same cooking class as Shin-ae (Soh Yoo Jin), a poor girl who dreams of owning a successful restaurant despite having a tough life.

This was the hottest TV show in 2001, introducing such future stars as Son Yae-jin, Kwon Sang-woo and So Ji-sup.

Demon Warriors (AKA: Opapatika)

Detective Techit commits suicide as a way to enter and investigate the eternal-limbo existence of superghouls called Opapatikas. Empire of Silver

Taiwan's top tycoon and richest person Gou Tai Ming invested over US$10 million to make a film version of the historical novel "The Silver Valley" written by Cheng Yi. The novel is about the merchants of the Shanxi province - where Gou's ancestors hailed from - at the end of the Qing Dynasty of China. Monopolizing the country's financial sector, Shanxi merchants amassed an enormous amount of wealth, while their influence extended to most of Asia and even Europe, earning them the analogy of "the Wall Street of China".

Premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival 2009, the film adaptation titled Empire of Silver is produced by renowned film critic Peggy Chiao and directed by theater director Christina Yao. Obviously, to most audiences, the main draw of the film lies in its brilliant cast. Taking top billing is Hong Kong superstar Aaron Kwok, who was twice crowned Best Actor at the Golden Horse Awards for Divergence and After This Our Exile. Here, he is given strong support by Mainland veteran actor Zhang Tielin (the highly popular TV series Princess Returning Pearl), starlet Hao Lei (Summer Palace), and American actress Jennifer Tilly (Bullets over Broadway).

At the end of the 19th century, Lord Kang (Zhang Tielin) is the rich and powerful head of the Shanxi banking empire. He intends to make his son "Third Master" (Aaron Kwok) his heir, but the young man cares more about liquor and women than his family business, and not until his family is hit by a tragic incident does he reluctantly step up into the leader role. However, the idealistic Third Master often clashes with his father, for he does not agree with Lord Kang's ruthless ways and questionable business ethics. What's making their relationship worse is that Third Master still has feelings for the girl (Hao Lei) who has now become his stepmother after unwillingly married Lord Kang. Amidst greed, deceit, and jealousy, he must decide whether to follow through on his father's path when the country is at a turbulent time with threats of foreign invasion and impending revolutions...

Fatal Move

There’s no guarantee in life that another day means another dollar, but you can pretty much count on a new Simon Yam movie coming along. And here he is again in a triad story, but don’t let the fact bring you down or put you off: this is actually a cool movie, marrying as it does serious underworld scheming with fantasy violence. It’s kind of like the Infernal Affairs trilogy condensed and on crack.

Cheng's previous two features ranged from intriguing (Keeping Watch) to alarming (Finding Her), and Hear Me shares some of their flaws. For the most part, however, the film is an improvement if not an outright accomplishment by the promising director. The cynical need not apply, but teens and even not-so-young adults should warm to this enjoyable little movie.

Taiwanese youth Tian Kuo (Eddie Peng of Exit No. 6 and All About Women) is a sloppy but lovable delivery boy who works in a Hong Kong-style restaurant for his nagging parents (Lin Mei-Shiu and Luo Be-An). For reasons initially unknown, Tian Kuo knows sign language, which helps him at the local pool where he sells lunchboxes to hard-of-hearing athletes training for competition. It's there that the deaf Yang Yang (Ivy Chen) catches Tian Kuo's eye. Yang Yang is perpetually dropping by the pool to cheer on elder sister Xiao Peng (Chen Yan-Xi), who trains at the pool and also possesses a hearing disability.

Xiao Peng dreams of competing in the Deaflympics, and her chances are high, as she's one of the most talented swimmers on the team. Yang Yang helps her by doing everything that's humanly possible to make her elder sister's dream come true. She works multiple jobs to make ends meet, including performing some bohemian street theater, leaving little time for anything resembling a personal life. All the while, she's positive and kind, filial and upbeat, and when she smiles her eyes widen to anime heroine-like levels. Yang Yang is obviously one super sweetheart, so it's no wonder that Tian Kuo is smitten. The big question: how does he win her heart?

Sophie's Revenge

Comic book artist Sophie is a sweet and carefree girl, brimming with creativity. She and her handsome surgeon boyfriend of two years, Jeff, are the perfect couple. Fai (Nick Cheung) grew up in Mongkok. In the 1970s, Fai replaced his pal, Porky, to go on a killing mission. He was shot at the back by the rookie police constable Gunner (Liu Kai Chi) and put in jail. However, this incident made him a Mongkok legend. Serving his prison terms, Fai's personality split into two - one was a fearless hitman; the other was a timid, indecisive pacifist who longed to live a peaceful life. With the help of Legislative Councilor Lady Han (Chan Lai Wan), Fai was paroled after nearly 30 years behind bars. When he returned to Mongkok, he found the place changed beyond recognition. Even his mother (Paw Hee Ching), who suffered from Alzheimer's disease, did not recognize him. At this time, the crime group he belonged is in the process of electing a new leader. His old pal Porky wanted to make use of Fai's legendary status to boost his popularity, while Peter planned to get rid of Fai by soliciting help from Gunner. Could Fai avoid getting involved in a possible gang war? Could he get out of Mongkok - a bigger and more dangerous prison?

Tracing Shadow

At the end of the Ming Dynasty, the country is in turmoil and the Manchurians are poised to advance upon the capital of Beijing. The city is in a chaos, with martial arts masters from royal guards to local bandits gathering in the city vying for the map of Taizu Emperor Treasure. Foreign warriors including Yehe Changgong and Ninja woman Mingyue Xin from Okinawa also joins the race. In search of the map, fighters stay in the town and disguise themselves as civilians. Yehe and Mingyue Xin pretend to be a couple and run an inn, while others open various businesses as a disguise. They suffer humiliation from young landlord Xu Sanguan for housing rent and debt. What's worse, Xu begins to pursue Mingyue Xin's adopted daughter Tang; while town chief Gu falls for the beautiful Ninja woman. As the fighters feel trapped in the mundane life of the small town, the map is found.

Treasure Hunter

Taiwan’s answer to Hollywood’s Indiana Jones, National Treasure and the Mummy trilogies, The Treasure Hunter (2009) is CGI heavy action adventure film directed by Kevin Chu (Kung Fu Dunk). The movie stars current Asian heartthrob and musician Jay Chou (Curse of the Golden Flower) as our honorable hero Qiao Fei , a fellow adventurer and guardian of national treasures – so as to speak, as he goes about securing ancient treasures against bandits, robbers and criminal gangs. He comes across an enigmatic and frantic map-keeper who passes on an ancient map that he says is the secret to the location of a great treasure in a “Lost City”. The reason he passes on the map is apparently because a criminal gang has found out about it and also located and killed one of the two map-keepers. With time running out and out of fear of not letting the map fall into wrong hands he entrusts the safety of the map with Qiao Fei. Unfortunately for Qiao, the gang kidnaps his old flame Lan Ting (model Lin Chi-Ling of Red Cliff) and trades the map in return for saving Lan’s life. However, all is not lost as our hero, together with Lan and archaeologist Hua Ding Bang (Chen Dao-Ming) goes after the bandits to retrieve the stolen map and secure the ancient treasure.

White Night

Det. Dong-su Han becomes convinced that the victim's son from 14 year old murder case, Yo-han, is somehow involved in the recent murder. Det. Han then discovers a hidden relationship between Yo-han and Mi-ho. As more crimes occur, Det. Dong-su Han works frantically to uncover the truth ...
